MARILOU DEPERIO DONICA, ADN, RN

She initially graduated with a BSBA in 1990 and then completed her ADN in 1998.She has over 16 years of nursing experiences, and she has worked in NursingInformatics since 2013. In her current role, she leads, supports, implements, andconducts and on-going optimization of the organization’s clinical informationsystems. She serves as a liaison among clinicians, ancillary departments andinformation technology), to ensure appropriate alignment with clinical workflowand processes and policies, and to meet regulatory requirements and standards.

Prior to her current positition, she worked as a bedside nurse; and in informatitics,she was an acute care clinical content specialist.




MERLYN S. TRINIDAD, BSN, RN
EXCELLENCE IN ADMINISTRATION

She has over 25 years of nursing experience, and 22 of those years were in longterm care. Prior to becoming the director of nursing, at Edgemoor, she servedin the capacity of Supervisory Nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing. In hercurrent role, she oversees nursing operation and manages over 200 nurses andancillaries. Her goal is to promote staff recruitment, retention, and she iscommitted to excellence and education of current and future nurses working inlong term care. Also, she is an active member of National Association ofDirectors of Nursing Administratition (NADONA) and collaborates with otherhealthcare disciplines to ensure that each resident at Edgemoor receives thehighest standard of care.




AMELIA M. BUENVENIDA, APRN, MSN, FNP

She has more than 20 years of clinical experiences and she has been an APRNsince 2016. Initially, she was a practicing physician and clinical instructor inthe Philippines at St. Luke’s Medical center for over 5 years (until sheimmigrated to the United States in 2006).

In the US, she worked as a Registered Nurse in the acute and emergencysetting, and as a clinical faculty teaching medical surgical nursing. At thebedside, she serves as a preceptor, and/or mentor, and role model to novicenurses, students, and peers.

Currently, as an APRN, she teaches Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) students at National University. In addition,she precepts numerous FNP students at her clinic. Her patients and their family members are very thankful toAPRN Buenvenida for being an effective provider because she is knowledgeable, efficient, and caring.




DOROTHY BROWN, BSN, RN

She has over 20 years of clinical nursing experience, andcurrently works as a staff nurse providing direct patient care.

In her nursing practice, she received many compliments for beingknowledgeable, caring, empathetic and having excellent clinical skills.At the bedside, she serves as role model and resource to her colleagues,new nurses, and students. She is the recipient of the following awards:San Diego Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse of the Year, San Diego HealthCare Champion Award and former PNASD Administrator Nurse of the Year.




MILAGROS “GRACE” FONTILLAS, BSN, RN

She has worked at UCSD Emergency department since 2007. Besides servingas an expert clinician, she is also a strong advocate for promoting patientsafety and positive patient outcomes. In 2016, she took the initiative to puttogether a nurse-led interdisciplinary approach to fall prevention andpatient harm risk reduction, entitled “Falls are Everybody’s Business.”

Because of her dedication to fall prevention and have improved patientoutcomes, she was recognized by the UCSD emergency department as2016 Nurse of the Year, and also was nominated to the UCSDNursing Excellence 2016 Nurse of the Year for Empirical Outcomes.




MERLYN S. FORONDA, BSN, RN

She is an expert clinician who has over 34 years of nursing experiences workingin neonatal intensive care unit and labor and delivery. She has worked indifferent capacities such as staff nurse, charge nurse, and clinical skills trainer.

At her workplace, she is the “go to” nurse when it comes to assisting in highrisk deliveries and neonatal emergencies. She also works at another hospital(Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center [SCVMC]) as an expert advanced lifesupport trainer.

She was a fellow at Evidenced-based Practitice EBP) Instititute of San Diego in2014, and she presented her EBP project entitled “The Use of PassiveHypothermia in Neonates with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy at SCVMC.Her EBP project was used as an example when the hospital applied for magnetrecognition. In 2016 she also presented the EBP project in the PNAAConference in Washington, DC.




PACITA BARANGAN, MSN, RN

She has over 40 years in nursing experience working in a variety of setting,such as long-term care, acute care, hemodialysis and outpatient clinic in thecapacity of staff nurse, leadership, and nursing education.

Because of her magnanimous spirit and great passion for community service,she has been an active volunteer in numerous community events of thePNASD, local churches, and even goes on medical mission to the Philippines.She frequently goes to the Philippines to provide instructions on nutritionand infection control. Also, at her own expense, she provides school suppliesto students (in the Philippines).

In academe, she is involved in curriculum development, research,scholarly presentations and publications. She was the recipient of theSigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing: forExcellence in Nursing Educatition in 2008.

In theUS, he worked as a nursing instructor, skills laboratory coordinator, clinicalnurse, and nursing educator. In his current role as an educator at PrimeHealthcare, he is responsible for designing, implementiting, and evaluatitingclinical and continuing educational programs for nurses and otherhealthcare staff. He is currently pursuing his MSN/FNP degree atUnited States University and serves as an Associate Editor of NursingResearch of Crimson Publishing Group.

She is the recipient of the 2017 Nurse Practitititioner of the Year (awardedby California Association for Nurse Practitioner San Diego Region),Awardee of the nurse of the month at Sharp Memorial for 2 consecutiveyears, and published her doctoral thesis in “Diabetes Self-ManagementEducation (DSME) Program for Glycemic Control.”

Prior to her current role, she worked in the variety of nursing roles suchas being a staff nurse, nursing faculty, and nursing administrator. Besides,research, she also has numerous scholarly presentations andpublicatitions. Her research projects are “Reliability and ValidityTesting of a Telemetry Monitoring” and “Comparison of methods todetermine CD4+ T-cell counts and viral loads in HIV+ and AIDS patients.”
